Foys Lake is an artificial lake located in Khulshi area near Pahartali railway station in Chittagong. It is located 6 km away from Zero Point in Chittagong. It was excavated in 1924 under the supervision of the Assam Bengal Railway Authority and was then known as Pahartali Lake. The lake was later named after a British engineer who helped design it. Large in size (336 acres), the lake is formed by the construction of a horizontal dam on a narrow valley between the tops of the hills. The horizontally constructed dam has created this lake by changing the direction of flow of water coming down from the hills in the northern part of Chittagong city. Next to Fayez Lake is Batali Hill, the highest hill in Chittagong city. Many local and foreign tourists visit the lake every year due to its beautiful environment and natural beauty.
